So we are about to hit summer and you might wonder, what will be the hot and stylish trend of the Summer. From what I’ve noticed the very popular trend is the hippie bohemian styles. With your gladiator sandals you will need to find the latest and greatest fringed and crochet purses. You could even go with a patchwork or embossed leather shoulder bags. In the 60’s and 70’s most hippies were making these handbags by hand or for themselves. My dad actually used to make them for my mom which I thought was way cool!! I wish I had the talent to do it myself but luckily today they are very popular and easy to find.

If you really like the 60’s and 70’s style and want to find a vintage handbag there are many places you can look. Try your local thrift store, most people donate there unwanted vintage items to replace it with the new but this is where your in luck! There are usually very inexpensive and you can have a one of a kind piece that everyone will want. Another place to look is at an Antique store you can find many hip bags and usually there’s a lot to choose from. Last but not least Estate Sale, this is probably my favorite place to look because not only can you find vintage handbags you can find hippie clothing that people have held on to. I’ve found crochet handbags to awesome leather openwork shoulder bags. One of my favorite designers in the 70’s is Enid Collins bags out of Texas. Her vintage bags included Owls, Butterflies, Flowers with Rhinestones! Her most famous bags were the Enid Collins Vintage Box Purse. So when going with the true vintage styles these are some great places to look.
If you are wanting more of a Vintage look from a new designer there are so many to choose from. One of my favorite designers for that vintage flare has to be Lucky Brand. The Lucky Brand

1968 Suede Fringe Tote with there burnt orange color and the fringe this is a must have for this summer! One of Lucky Brands newer designs is the Embroidered Crossroads line, they have a normal shoulder bag to a cross-body tote that is adorable. Perfect for the hippie in you with beautiful embroidered flowers this bag comes in multiple colors. I am also a lover of butterflies and Lucky Brand makes a butterfly backpack tote that is adorable. Another designer I have grown to love is Isabella Fiore now she has so many vintage inspired looks. From the Isabella Peace and Love Lena Tote to the Isabella Fiore Garden Variety Kym Satchel which has beautiful Studded flowers on the front. She also makes a beautiful brown leather shoulder bag with embroidered flowers that are turquoise!! I love this bag!! What can I say the list could go on and on. Both designers are unique in different ways.
So Summer of 2011 is about to begin and the hunt for that perfect summer bag has to start! You just have to decide true vintage or vintage inspired? The good thing is there all out there to be found!
